1) write substantial job documents on a regular
basis;
2) have identified a need that takes more than a
single meeting to address; or
3) work more successfully in a one-on-one setting
than in a class setting.
Each participant submits in advance of the
first meeting three writing samples for evaluation, which serve as the
benchmark for writing skills.
At the first meeting, the instructor reviews the
samples with the participant, and together they set objectives for the
coaching sessions. While objectives differ for each individual, they
often relate to organizing complex messages, writing concisely,
adjusting the tone of sensitive messages, improving sentence clarity,
and following the rules of standard written English.
